Sunday Social: Childhoodom

Sunday, August 25, 2013

Happy Sunday, beautiful people! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I'm still scratching my head as to why I thought it was a good idea to expose my husband to the film, "Closer." Hey, honey! Let's have a romantic home cooked dinner and watch a movie allllll about CHEATING! Yay! Good one, Candace.
// What do you miss most about being a kid? //
Being fearless. Sure, maybe I was afraid of what was under the bed. But, that's way better than my current state of fear: cancer, car wrecks, rapists, unemployment, and terrorism. I have many more than that but I shirk at letting you on to the crazy hypochondriac anxiety-prone scaredy cat that is Candace.
Also, this:
// Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it? //
People always assumed "Candy" was a fitting thing to call me. But, aside from my high school theatre teacher who actually made it sound endearing, I always thought it made me sound brainless or like a stripper. To this day, "Kansas" happens. And "Can" is common. Sometimes, I get called "Canned Ace" a la my Twitter handle. So, the moral of this story is: "Meh, call me whatever you want. I'll probably respond." Tee hee.
// What was your favorite thing to do at recess? //
Um, be a friggin' POWER RANGER. HELLO! I was always the Yellow one because all of the other girls wanted to be Kimberly. And I'm not even close to Asian so, what is happening...
// What did you want to be when you grew up? //
I flirted with the idea of meteorology (NERD) and veterinarian (BUMP that noise) and pop star (suck it, Taylor Swift!), but I always wanted to be an actress/ singer. Happy to say, DID IT! Doing it! Loving it! :)
Can't you see? I am just LIIIIIVING in this photo.
// Did you participate in any school activities? //
Oh Lord. Drama Club, y'all. Beta Club. Odyssey of the Mind. Thespians' Society. Junior Marshall. A brief stint in the History Club until I realized I didn't even be knowin' nothin' about no Civil War. And in college, Alpha Psi (Vice President, whaaat!), Phi Epsilon Honor Society, Alpha Chi Honor Society. Ladies and gentleman, I call that monologue: "The Goody Two Shoes Theatre Kid You Always Made Fun Of."
// What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about? //
My parents asked me if Michael Jackson was a boy or a girl and, with stone cold sincerity, I replied, "She's a boy."
I still consider my logic on this topic utterly flawless.
How about you?

    1. Right?! What is all of this STOOPID TV now? Although, maybe I'm waxing nostalgic over nothing. My husband and I decided to watch Youtube videos of Bill Nye The Science Guy the other day and while I still think Bill Nye is just perfect in every way, that show was not nearly as totally awesome as I remembered. Also, I may have just committed a cardinal sin by saying that.

And this is the part where my reply comment has gone on too long. :)

  3. Your answers kept me giggling from start to finish! I always wished I had the guts to pursue drama, but I was never brave enough. I worked in a theatre for a long time and have a lot of admiration for actors.

  4. I was the pink power ranger for halloween when I was five! I recently watched the movie again because J's cousin was sleeping over, and boy that show was lacking in a few areas.

    1. YES! I think I need to let my past show stay in the past so I can remember them fondly. :)

  9. You are so right on the being fearless thing - it would be so nice for the worries to be something like what I'm going to wear to school tomorrow and who am I going to play with instead of is that pain in my chest the start of heart problems??

And I totally forgot about Beta Club!

You have such a cute blog! Am your newest follower!
